Happy New Year 2021!

A new year brings with it  new hope, hope that this year will in some way be better than the last which shouldn’t take much for the year we’ve had! One thing we know is that most people are hoping that they’ll find a way to look better and feel better this year. After COVID, Thanksgiving and Christmas many of us are finding our clothes fit a bit tighter, our stress a bit higher and health a bit lower than we’d like. The good news is that things don’t have to stay that way in 2021. Just a little bit of self care, some easy lifestyle tweaks, and you’ll be off to a new you this year!

Weight Gain, Cortisol and Chiropractic.

Did you know that Chiropractic can help with one of the causes of weight gain?

If you are trying to lose weight, cortisol is a hormone that you should familiarize yourself with. Cortisol is a stress hormone that is responsible for a myriad of stressors from weight gain and increased appetite to blood sugar elevation, suppression of the immune system, fatigue and more. It plays a role in the cause of most major diseases like cancer, heart disease, and diabetes.

A  number of things cause your body to make and release this hormone, one of which is a condition of the spine known as a vertebral subluxation. A subluxation occurs when joints in the spine lose proper range of motion and become inflamed (Seaman JMPT 1998). This loss of motion and inflammation causes degeneration (premature aging) in joints, muscles, ligaments and nerves. It also triggers the brain to release stress hormones, one of which is cortisol. If trauma, poor postures, excessive sitting or inactivity has caused your spine to lose range of motion and become inflamed, then you need a good chiropractor.

The only way to lower elevated cortisol caused by a stiff, inflamed spine is chiropractic care. Chiropractic adjustments are used to put flexibility back into the joints. When movement is improved in the joints, the inflammation goes down, and the brain will stop the release of cortisol from the spine.

Trying to Share us w/ Others?
